A quieter stretch of coast between Colwyn Bay and Llandudno, with the Little Orme behind
About Penrhyn Bay Beach
Penrhyn Bay sits at the western edge of the Colwyn Bay coastline, tucked beneath the limestone headland of the Little Orme. The beach is a mix of shingle and sand at low tide, and it is generally calmer and less busy than the main Colwyn Bay seafront, which makes it a favourite with local families and dog walkers.
Facilities are simpler than at the main beach, so bring what you need for the day. Check seasonal dog restrictions and any water quality notices before you go, as these can change.
Getting There
Penrhyn Bay is about two miles west of Colwyn Bay town centre, reached by car along the coast road or on foot and by bike along the promenade and cycle route. It also forms part of the Colwyn Bay to Llandudno cycle and walk. The nearest stations are Colwyn Bay and Llandudno Junction, with bus links along the coast.
Nearby
Walk or drive east to Rhos-on-Sea and the main Colwyn Bay beach, or climb the Little Orme for views across Conwy Bay. For food, see our restaurant guide.
